Audience Research

For the genre of music that our band 'Kill the Freak' produces which is rock/metal, the main target audience would most commonly be teens and young adults (13+). However, looking at the rock/metal genre in a larger scale, the target audience is much broader ranging from children to the elderly because of the wide range of different bands for example Black Sabbath as they have been active in the music industry for over 45 years, meaning that the audience have grown up with them from childhood. Bands such as Black Sabbath have influence many modern day bands in the rock/metal genre such as Slipknot, Disturbed, Fear Factory and Machine Head which means that the older generation which is into Black Sabbath could be interested in looking at the modern bands due to their influence.

Smaller, less known bands, will tour with more well known bands to try and widen their audience. They may also play at festivals such as Download and Bloodstock to hit a wider fan base.

Some larger, well known bands will release tour DVD's and deluxe edition albums and exclusive pre-release album launches and signings so that the fans can get an exclusive experience that would promote and make the band seem more integrates with their audiences.

This relates to our chosen artist 'Kill The Freak' as when they released their debut single, they handed out free copies at their live show to promote the song and even had it played through the PA at the local metal club.

Jennys poster ideas

I have designed the first magazine advert in this way because it links to the digipack because of a similar image and again links to the music video because of the similar image, the colours and font used also link to the digipack, the advert also contains information that is important to the reader such as release date and the bands social networking address.
I designed the magazine advert in this way as it fits with the genre of the band, it also contains all of the important information such and band and album name as well as release date and social networking information. However, it is not a very good magazine advert and it does not link to the digipak and does not link to the music video either.

No One Can Know- Lyrical analysis

No matter which route I took
I was going to hell
Nobody said
'Cause nobody cared
People never understood
My urges my ways
But now it's too late                               Someone found out about him and what he's done
For you to escape

You shouldn't look
If you don't want to find                        He is complaining about people doing things for the sake of it
You shouldn't listen                               even if they don't want to know the outcome.
If you don't want to hear
You shouldn't touch
If you don't want to feel
I had to stab you                                  His urges are murderous
I had to kill

Now that you've seen
What can't be forgot
You must be taken
You must be forsaken
No one can know                                   Keeping everything very secretive, paranoid?
What has to be done
But I'm not alone                                     He feels the bones of people around keep stop him from
I'm surrounded in your bones                  being alone

You shouldn't look
If you don't want to find
You shouldn't listen                               He is complaining about people doing things for the sake of it
If you don't want to hear                         even if they don't want to know the outcome.
You shouldn't touch
If you don't want to feel
I had to stab you
I had to kill

No one can know x4

Fear, Blood, Death, Tears - Lyrical Analysis

You really think I give a fuck?
This disease is what I thrive on
I really wish you would back the fuck up
Or you'll regret your next move!

I see you twist and swerve
To try and avoid the pain caused.
How do you still have the nerve?
Carry on as normal until I come around.

Your fear is what I live for.
Your blood is what I wish for.
Your death is what I crave for.
Your tears are what I strive for.

I see you twist and swerve
To try and avoid the pain caused.
How do you still have the nerve?
Carry on as normal until I come around.

I see you fall to your knees
Begging, for the end.
You really think I will help you
In your time of need?

Your fear is what I live for.
Your blood is what I wish for.
Your death is what I crave for.
Your tears are what I strive for.

(Fear, Blood, Death, Tears)
Your fear is what I live for.
(Fear, Blood, Death, Tears)
Your blood is what I wish for.
(Fear, Blood, Death, Tears)
Your death is what I crave for.
(Fear, Blood, Death, Tears)
Your tears are what I strive for!
