Our location and how we overcame problems

At first we wanted our location to look as much like an asylum as possible by having a bright white room that is as clean as possible. We also wanted to do some shots in a hospital corridor.
We spoke to Abbey's mum who works in the hospital to see if we could use the corridor. She told us that we couldn't be allowed access to the corridor, so we had to try and think of a new effective opening shot. We then went searching for a white room, this was difficult because there aren't a lot of empty white rooms about. We have a few friends of ours which have drum rooms, these are sound proof empty rooms which only contain drums and amps. We first asked on of Kate's friends but he was getting his refurbished during the time we planned to film. So the we went to our back up which was our friend George's out house/drum room. After talking to him and trying to work out times he was free and our band was free we realised it wasn't practical.

We then found ourselves a bit stuck. We really struggled to find ourselves a room which would work so we thought about maybe making a set. This would have consisted of white painted wood nailed together and we was going to put it in my garden which has a large light so we could film at night as well or just as extra lighting. So we went on websites such as B&Q and found out this would cost up way more then we thought. We tried asking around to see if anyone had any spare wood we could buy off them cheaper but no one did. This meant we was stuck again.

After a long group discussion we decided that we just needed to fins a room and then make it work with white sheets and clever angling of the camera. So we started looking again and came up with using the YMCA because they let people use the rooms for band practice on a Thursday. This meant everyone had to pay £2 for using the room. The only issue with the YMCA is that we could only use the room for an hour and a half at a time so we needed another place to do the acting shots. So after talking to our teacher we decided to use the drama studio with our white sheets again. We could get away with this because our actor goes to our school so he is available during the day. Also we plan on using focus on the camera cleverly so that the background is blurred and the foreground is in focus, so that you can't tell that it was filmed in a drama studio.
